A little hello from me…
Welcome to this week’s Skinn Therapy email. I hope you’re having a lovely week.
Are You Really Cleansing Your Skin?
Cleansing might seem like the simplest step in your skincare routine, but it’s one of the most important — and it’s surprisingly easy to get wrong.
Your cleanser isn’t just there to remove your make-up. A good cleanse removes make-up, SPF, excess oil, sweat, pollution and daily build-up, leaving your skin clean and ready for the rest of your skincare.
But here’s the bit I really want you to think about…
Are you cleansing your skin — or just washing your face?
Using very hot water, scrubbing too hard, using a cleanser that leaves your skin feeling tight or only cleansing for a few seconds can all leave your skin unhappy and compromise its natural barrier.
And if you wear make-up or SPF, I’m a big fan of taking the time to double cleanse in the evening. Your first cleanse removes the day’s products and grime; your second cleanse actually cleans the skin.
Your skin shouldn’t feel squeaky, tight or stripped after cleansing. It should feel fresh, comfortable and balanced.
So this week, have a little look at your cleansing routine. Ask yourself:
Am I using the right cleanser for my skin? Am I cleansing for long enough? Am I removing everything properly? And am I being gentle with my skin?
Because beautiful skin doesn’t start with the most expensive serum.
It starts with getting the basics right.
